A peninsula with two very different sides
The Mornington Peninsula Shire runs from Mornington down the bay side through Dromana, Safety Beach, McCrae, Rosebud, Tootgarook, Rye and Blairgowrie to Sorrento and Portsea near the tip at Point Nepean. On the other side, facing Western Port, it takes in Baxter, Somerville, Tyabb, Hastings, Bittern, Crib Point and Somers, with the Stony Point railway line running through several of those towns.
Bay side and Western Port side look close together on a map and are a genuine drive in a car, especially once the Nepean Highway slows near Dromana in summer or Frankston-Flinders Road carries extra holiday traffic on the other side. We roster with that in mind, matching workers to the side of the Peninsula they can actually reach on time, in January as well as June.
Seasonal rostering
We plan for the quiet months and the crowded ones
The Mornington Peninsula is long, and a lot of it is genuinely rural once you're off the highway. A support worker rostered in Mornington in the morning and Hastings in the afternoon is crossing from the bay side to the Western Port side, and that's a real drive, not a suburb-to-suburb hop. We build rosters around that shape instead of pretending the Peninsula is one compact area.
Summer changes the maths. Holiday houses fill up from Portsea and Sorrento down through Blairgowrie and Rye to Rosebud and Dromana, the Nepean Highway gets noticeably slower, and towns that are quiet in June can feel like a different place in January. None of that is a problem by itself, but it's a problem if a support worker's travel time was only ever planned for a quiet Tuesday in winter.
So we run two rosters a year, a standard one and a summer one, and we talk about the switch in spring rather than waiting for the crowds to arrive. That gives us time to check travel windows, confirm which worker can still make it through peak traffic, and adjust visit times before the school holidays start, so support doesn't wobble in the middle of the busiest week of the year.

Funding and cost
What NDIS support costs in Mornington Peninsula
Quotes are free and there's no call-out fee, wherever on the Peninsula you're based, Mornington, Rye or anywhere between. We charge in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, and the price we quote is the price on your invoice, with nothing extra added for a longer drive out to Portsea or Somers.
We support participants who are plan-managed, self-managed or NDIA-managed, where the item allows, and we'll talk you through what that means on the first call if you're not sure. However your plan is managed, the same seasonal roster applies.

Will I keep the same support worker year-round on the Mornington Peninsula, even during the summer rush?
That's what we aim for. We match you with a worker whose regular route to you is realistic in both seasons, and if summer traffic makes the trip harder, we'd rather adjust the time of the visit than swap you to someone new.
