NDIS Social and Community Participation
Support to get out, connect and build confidence in the community, with worker matching and goals that put your choice and control first.
Get out, connect and grow your confidence
Social and community participation is support to take part in the life around you, on your terms. Whether the goal is more social connection, new skills, or simply more confidence getting out and about, we help you get there step by step.
What social and community participation includes
Every plan is different. These are the ways we most often help people take part.
Getting out and joining in
Support to attend community activities, groups and events, so it is easier to say yes and take part.
Building social connection
Help to meet people, keep up friendships and reduce isolation, at a pace that feels right.
Skills for everyday life
Practising real world skills like planning, budgeting and communication in the places you use them.
Travel and getting around
Travel training and support to use public transport with growing confidence and independence.
Appointments and errands
A hand to get to appointments, shopping and local errands, and to stay on top of your week.
Confidence at your pace
Gentle, step by step support to try new places and groups without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Ideas for getting out and about
Community participation looks different for everyone. Your goals lead, and your worker supports. Some of the places and activities people choose include the following.
Who community participation suits
This support suits people whose NDIS goals include getting out more, building independence, or feeling more connected.
- People who feel isolated and want more social connection
- Anyone building confidence in busy or new environments
- Those learning to travel and get around independently
- People working towards study, volunteering or work goals
Your choice and control, your goals
Choice and control sit at the heart of the NDIS, and at the heart of how we work. You decide where you go, who supports you and how quickly you build up. We plan around your goals, then check in and adjust as your confidence grows.
- Goals set by you, reviewed with you
- A matched worker who shares your language or culture where you prefer
- Progress notes so you can see how far you have come
Support matched to how you live
Getting out is easier with someone who gets you. We match you with a worker who fits your language, gender preference, culture and interests, so community time feels natural, not supervised.

Frequently asked questions
Anywhere that supports your goals and is safe, from the local library, park or place of worship to shops, classes, sport or volunteering. You choose, and we plan around it.
Yes. On the NDIS this support appears as social and community participation, and as increased social and community participation under Capacity Building. We deliver both, guided by your plan.
Yes. Travel training is a common goal. We build up gradually, from planning a trip to travelling with support and then travelling more independently.
We aim for continuity, so you build a real rapport with a matched worker. Familiar support makes getting out feel far more comfortable.
Absolutely. We can match you with a worker who shares your language or culture, and support activities that matter to you, including attending your place of worship.
