One road, two ends
Why we run a northern roster and a southern roster on the Beaches
The Northern Beaches is a long, narrow peninsula with the ocean on one side and Pittwater and Middle Harbour on the other, and effectively one road runs its length. It's Pittwater Road through Manly, Brookvale, Dee Why and Collaroy, and becomes Barrenjoey Road from Newport up through Avalon Beach to Palm Beach at the top. There's no train line anywhere on the peninsula, so that one road, and the buses that run along it, carry almost everyone.
That shapes how we schedule. When Pittwater Road or Barrenjoey Road is heavy with traffic, affected by flooding on the low-lying stretches, or closed after an accident, getting from the southern end around Manly and Dee Why up to Avalon Beach and Palm Beach can take a lot longer than the distance on a map suggests. Where we can, we plan a northern run and a southern run as two separate rosters, build honest travel time into each visit, and phone ahead if we know the road is closed or banked up.
It also means thinking about access points, not just suburbs. Church Point is the departure point for Scotland Island, which has no bridge, so any visit there depends on the ferry or a private boat and has to be planned into the schedule like any other leg of the trip, not assumed to work the same way as a mainland address.

From Manly to Palm Beach, and out to Scotland Island
We support participants the length of the peninsula: Manly, Freshwater and Brookvale in the south, Dee Why, Collaroy and Narrabeen through the middle, and Mona Vale, Newport, Bilgola Plateau, Avalon Beach and Palm Beach to the north. Inland, we also cover Frenchs Forest and Belrose, which sit off the coastal strip but still rely on the same road network to connect to the rest of the Beaches. Church Point, on Pittwater, is the departure point for Scotland Island, an offshore community with no bridge, reachable only by ferry or private boat.
Because Pittwater Road and Barrenjoey Road are effectively the only way through, we generally run two rosters: a southern one from Manly up to around Narrabeen, and a northern one from Mona Vale up to Palm Beach, so a worker isn't crossing the whole peninsula for one visit. For Scotland Island, visits are planned around ferry times from Church Point, and we're upfront if a booking needs extra lead time. When the road is flooded, heavy with holiday traffic, or closed after an accident, we'd rather ring and reschedule than have a worker arrive late without warning.
