The old name hasn't vanished from daily life: Moreland Road still runs through Coburg and Brunswick, the Moreland train station on the Upfield line kept its name, and plenty of long-term locals and local shopfronts still say Moreland out of habit. That mix of old and new runs through the suburbs too. Brunswick is inner-city and increasingly gentrified, converted warehouses, terrace houses and cafes with Sydney Road as its spine, home for decades to students, artists and, further back, Italian and Greek families.
